Technological sciences in the second degree offers a broad general education and is STEM through and through. Science, T echnology, Engineering and Mathematics are all covered extensively .
The final objectives of the basic education are the same as those of any other direction (aso, kso, tso) of the finality transfer. They are ambitious in themselves, but in the specific training we go one step further.
We have not yet opted for a specialty (that is for the third degree), but we do opt for a broad technological and scientific education with special attention to mathematical education. Since mathematics occupies a very important place in the second grade, but especially in the third grade, a good mathematical foundation and good insight are desirable (6h. mathematics in the third year, 7h. in the fourth).

Natural sciences have been brought from the basic education to the specific education (SV) because everything in the SV is studied more extensively.
Specific Training Technological Sciences
STEM is in our DNA and Technological Sciences is the most obvious example of this.
Math
In the specific training you follow two hours of extra advanced mathematics in both years, and in 4TW this is supplemented with one hour of business economics mathematics. Everyone takes an hour of economics in the third year of basic education. Business economics mathematics continues on this topic, but mainly concentrates on business economics aspects. It is of great importance for a company that the technology and techniques are implemented and used in a financially and economically responsible manner. Although intended as preparation for commercial engineering, this training is also useful for civil or industrial engineers.

Everything is physics
If you now study black holes or brains, at some point you will end up in the world of physics, including technology.
First we will go much deeper into the natural sciences of basic education. You then follow advanced physics in which you come into contact with many disciplines:
- electromagnetism
- electrodynamics
- electronics
- mechanics
- construction theory
- thermodynamics
- fluid mechanics
Needless to say, a solid mathematical understanding is of great importance, hence six hours of mathematics and eight or nine hours in the third degree Technological Sciences & Engineering.
VOICE – Engineering
The specific training is not purely theoretical, there are labs where you can experiment or apply the theory. But there's more. Thanks to our collaboration with companies, but especially with the VUB faculties of Engineering (IR) and Medicine & Pharmacy (GF) and the STEM support center of the VUB, you will participate in joint projects in which you can fully use and/or expand your capabilities.
In the first grade you learned to program with Scratch, among others, but in particular you learned the basics of Python , the programming language of choice for scientists. Are you new to our Gito? Haven't you followed this yet? No problem. We start from scratch in the classroom and through our learning platform you can repeat everything and make exercises.
Depending on the content of the above STEM courses, you will learn how to use specialized libraries to solve problems. This also means that you will receive theory and practice from the learning outcomes of the third degree in computer science. So this is a nice bonus.

Last but not least
If you feel strong enough and you want additional challenges in addition to what you already get on your TW sandwich, we offer you the chance to have your own learning plan if this is deemed possible. In collaboration with one or more teachers from our Gito and/or teachers from the VUB, a learning trajectory is mapped out in our learning platform. Competencies are linked to this that, if you achieve them, are considered acquired.

Basic education
As already mentioned, you will receive the basic education of the finality transfer (to academic and professional bachelors), which is the same for all the specializations (aso, kso, tso).
Languages
So you follow languages for ten hours, but the languages also remain of great importance in the STEM subjects. For example, you have to write reports and treatises and that must of course be written in perfect Dutch (including preparation for the entrance exam Royal Military School and Doctors & Dentists).
Python is already in English, but you write the analyzes for and the documentation of your programs in English. We also encourage you to read and interpret professional literature in English.
Overijse is located just next to the Walloon and Brussels Capital Region, where there are also many companies. It is therefore quite possible that you will come into contact with a French-speaking company for one of your projects. It is therefore recommended that you have a good command of French.

Historical awareness (better known as history) was extended to two hours per week due to the new attainment targets.
The financial, economic attainment targets were bundled in the Economics course. As mentioned above, you follow the specific 4TW course in business economics mathematics. In it you will briefly return to the economics of 3TW, but you will mainly apply mathematics in a business economics context.
Exercise and health is more than just Physical Education. Additional attention is paid to hygiene, first aid, nutrition and the like. In short, exercise and health.
ICT and Media are treated in detail in the specific training.
The final objectives of Artistic Education are offered through projects, in which you will collaborate as much as possible with fellow students from your own and other disciplines on a specific theme.

This is actually the common thread through the entire formation, both the basic formation and the specific formation, but especially with the latter.
